Introduction:

West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination or the WB-JEE is a state-government controlled centralized test for admission to the private and governmental engineering and medical institutions in West Bengal. The test is taken after the 12th grade for admission to graduation (also known as Bachelors) courses. The exam can be taken by those who studied Science stream in plus two with the specific subjects tested in the examination, which are Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology. There are actually two separate tests for engineering colleges and medical colleges, the difference being that the engineering test has the Mathematics paper while the medical test has the Biology paper.

Eligibility for appearing in WBJEE:

Nationality: The applicant must be a citizen of India. 

Educational Qualification: He/she should have passed the H.S. (10+2) or its equivalent examination. The general candidates must secure at least 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Biological Sciences taken together (40% for SC/ST candidates) and at least 30% marks in English (for all categories). In addition, candidates must secure at least pass marks in the subjects individually including vernacular (or any other fifth subject) as mentioned below:

B.E/ B.Tech./B.Arch: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English and vernacular or any other fifth subject.
M.B.B.S/B.D.S/B.V.Sc: Physics, Chemistry, Biological Sciences, English and vernacular or any other fifth subject.
PHARMACY: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Biological Sciences, English and vernacular or any other fifth subject. 

Exam Pattern for WBJEE:

The pattern of West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WB - JEE) for admission to engineering degree courses is as follows:

  1. Each question paper (Biology, Physics + Chemistry – one paper, Mathematics) carries 100 marks. The questions are basically asked from the 10+ syllabus.
  2. The candidate willing to take admission into B.E. / B. Tech Engineering Courses requires answering questions in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
  3. Those candidates who want to take admission into B. Arch. – Bachelor of Architecture degree course require answering Aptitude Test in addition to Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

Total number of seats and examination date: 

More than 13000 seats are available in different engineering disciplines offered at various engineering colleges across the state of West Bengal. About 15% seats of all the engineering colleges are filled on the basis of All India Engineering Entrance Examination – AIEEE.
    
Reservation: Reservation for SC/ST/PC candidates is as per State Govt. Rules.
